The United Kingdom expanded its sanctions against Russia on 1 October. The new package comprises 31 measures targeting 23 individuals and entities and eight vessels. London said the sanctions target, among other things, sources of funding for Russia’s military campaign, pro-Kremlin information networks and individuals linked to human rights violations in territories of Ukraine occupied by Russia.

Three people have been detained in Ingushetia, Tatarstan and Bashkortostan in a joint operation by the FSB, Interior Ministry and Investigative Committee. Russian law-enforcement authorities accuse them of involvement in attacks on military personnel and law-enforcement officers in Chechnya in 1999 and 2000. The detainees’ names and ages have not been disclosed.

Ukrainian UAVs attacked occupied Crimea overnight into October 1. Krymenergo reported that energy infrastructure was targeted, leaving some settlements without electricity.

An explosion occurred in Kaspiysk on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 30. Photos published by the Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channel Exilenova+ show smoke rising into the sky near the local port.

On the night of September 28, the Krasnodar Territory was among the regions targeted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channel Exilenova+, residents reported multiple explosions and a fire. The independent Russian outlet ASTRA determined that the fire was at the Pavlovskaya oil depot—owned by the Krasnodar-based company "Edelweiss-95"—located in the stanitsa of Novotitarovskaya. The facility deals in the wholesale trade of petroleum products.

Ukrainian drones attacked Krasnodar Krai and Rostov Region overnight on 26 September. Fires broke out at two industrial sites in Krasnodar Krai’s Seversky District. Ukrainian officials later said one of the targets was the Ilsky oil refinery. According to the regional emergency response headquarters, three people were killed and two others injured.

Overnight into September 25, Ukrainian drones attacked fuel-energy and military-industrial facilities across various Russian regions. The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting and destroying 592 UAVs over Russian territory (including the Kuban and Don regions), occupied Crimea, and the Black Sea. Casualties have been reported.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Russian air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 40 fixed-wing drones over Russian territory and occupied Crimea during the night of September 24. The Rostov region and Krasnodar Krai were among the areas targeted.

According to a report by the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 297 drones overnight on September 22 over several Russian regions, including the Kuban, the Rostov and Volgograd regions, and occupied Crimea.

On the morning of September 21, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Russian air defense forces had destroyed 244 UAVs overnight. The drones were shot down over 19 Russian regions—including the Rostov and Krasnodar regions and the Republic of Adygea—as well as over the Black Sea.
