Armenia Establishes Diplomatic Relations with Pakistan for the First Time

During the SCO summit held in the Chinese city of Tianjin, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Pakistan signed a joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations. The document was signed by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

The parties emphasized their readiness to develop cooperation based on the principles of the UN Charter - respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit.

Armenia and Pakistan also agreed to exchange diplomatic representatives and provide the necessary support for the full functioning of relations within the framework of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.

In his post on the X social network, the Pakistani Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction with the signing of the document. It is noted that at the same time, the country's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, signed with the mediation of the United States, congratulating both sides and emphasizing Pakistan's desire for stability in the region.
