Red Wings Airlines May Connect Another 20 Russian Cities to Georgia
The Russian airline Red Wings has applied to expand its route network in Georgia. The carrier has requested authorization from Russian aviation authorities to operate flights to Tbilisi and Batumi from several dozen cities.
The airline plans to fly to Tbilisi from six additional cities: Omsk, Volgograd, Izhevsk, Krasnoyarsk, Saratov, and Surgut.
For flights to Batumi, Red Wings listed 17 destinations. The list includes Astrakhan, Cherepovets, Cheboksary, Ulyanovsk, Syktyvkar, Surgut, Stavropol, Orenburg, Omsk, Nizhnekamsk, Kaliningrad, Irkutsk, Izhevsk, Barnaul, Krasnoyarsk, Volgograd, and Saratov.
An application for authorization does not in itself mean the airline will launch flights on all the listed routes. A decision by Rosaviatsia grants the carrier the right to operate international flights to a specific destination but does not oblige it to launch the service. Actual launch would require determining commercial terms, establishing a schedule, and obtaining the necessary permits from Georgian authorities.
Red Wings currently operates regular and seasonal flights between Russia and Georgia. According to the schedule for September 2026, direct service to Tbilisi exists from cities including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Krasnodar, Mineralnye Vody, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Samara, Tyumen, and Ufa.
