Wagner PMC distributed a video of the extrajudicial execution of a mercenary from Crimea who surrendered to the Ukrainian Armed Forces

The Gray Zone Telegram channel published a video of the extrajudicial execution of a former Russian prisoner, who allegedly went to war with Ukraine as part of the Wagner PMC, surrendered to the Ukrainian military, and was then kidnapped by former colleagues and executed with a sledgehammer blow to the head. Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova contacted the Investigative Committee with a request to verify the authenticity of the video.
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, reported an attempt to poison the commander of the Akhmat special forces unit, Apta Alaudinov. He allegedly received a letter saturated with a poisonous substance, after which he, along with two adjutants, was hospitalized in a Moscow clinic. Human rights activist Abubakar Yangulbaev called these messages PR.

The Anna Politkovskaya Award has this year been given to 11 Russian and five Ukrainian female journalists who are imprisoned in Russia and in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

 

According to the award’s founder, the international organisation RAW in WAR (Reach All Women in WAR), the nominations committee praised the “courage and integrity” of the laureates, who “risk their freedom and even their lives to report on the war and speak out against human rights violations, war crimes and the escalating repression of journalists, human rights defenders and anti-war activists in Russia”.
