Georgia expressed readiness to mediate between Armenia and Azerbaijan for the sake of peace and stability in the region
A meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Georgia and Armenia was held in Yerevan. Maka Bochorishvili and Ararat Mirzoyan held a joint press conference.

“The centuries-old friendship, outstanding relations and cooperation between our countries are within the framework of strategic cooperation. Armenia is among Georgia’s top ten trading partners, and citizens of this country are in third place among the most frequent guests of our country. Today, we discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation in trade, economics, transport, tourism, education and many other areas. Georgia is ready to become a mediator between Yerevan and Baku to strengthen peace and stability in the region,” Maka Bochorishvili said.

She expressed hope that the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan would be acceptable to both sides, and assured that Georgia is ready to cooperate with its neighbors in this direction. Mirzoyan, in turn, said that his country is ready to discuss with Azerbaijan the introduction of simplified transit procedures after the unblocking of communications.

It is noteworthy that among the security threats in the region, Maka Bochorishvili also noted "the challenges emanating from Russia, which has occupied the regions of Georgia." The minister emphasized that Armenia and Georgia support each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity. In addition, she welcomed the deepening of Yerevan's relations with the EU and the US, noting that this will benefit the region and Georgia is glad to see successful relations between neighbors and other partners.
