Activists in Moscow have installed a memorial plaque for the 21st time in honor of Anna Politkovskaya, who was murdered in 2006. The plaque, which reads, "Anna Politkovskaya lived in this house and was vilely murdered on October 7, 2006," has previously been destroyed by unknown assailants. Activists intend to continue restoring it until it remains in place forever.
Based on the 2024 results, Ingushetia and Chechnya ranked 85th and 83rd among Russian regions in terms of material well-being. Tuva ranked between them.
Karachay-Cherkessia ranked 82nd in the RIA Novosti rankings, Dagestan 78th, Kabardino-Balkaria 77th, North Ossetia 76th, and Stavropol Krai 75th. The northern regions of Yamal, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, and Magadan Oblast lead the rankings.
The researchers used data from Rosstat and the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. The ranking was compiled taking into account the ratio of median income to the cost of a fixed set of goods and services, the average monthly volume of bank deposits per capita, the proportion of the population with incomes below the poverty line, the proportion of families who could afford to buy an apartment with a mortgage, and the population with incomes over 60,000 rubles per month.
