Four years since the detention of Abdulmumin Hajiyev

On June 14, Abdulmumin Hajiyev, a journalist of the Dagestan «Draft» newspaper, was detained and placed in the pre-trial detention centre. Lawyer Abubakar Rizvanov and programmer Kemal Tambiyev are under arrest together with him. They are accused of financing terrorism. 
All charges are based on the testimony of secret and semi-secret witnesses. All of them deny the guilt of the defendants. Many of the witnesses reported pressure from the investigation. 

In 23 articles Abdulmumin Hajiyev did not find any evidence of the investigation. These materials were not found to promote or justify terrorism and extremism. Despite these facts, a journalist and other persons are still being held in pre-trial detention.

Как сообщает учредитель премии, международная организация RAW in WAR (Reach All Women in WAR), комитет по номинациям отметил «мужество и принципиальность» лауреатов, которые «рискуют своей свободой и даже жизнью, чтобы освещать войну и выступать против нарушений прав человека, военных преступлений и усиливающихся репрессий в отношении журналистов, правозащитников и антивоенных активистов в России».
