Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has once again sharply criticized the US diplomatic mission. He claimed that the US Embassy, ​​under the previous White House administration, was one of the main sources of "artificial hatred" and the spread of false information in Georgia.

Kobakhidze was responding to a recent statement by the Foreign Ministry, in which the embassy denied any connection to the accusations against it and emphasized its continued support for the development of partnership between Washington and Tbilisi.

However, Kobakhidze said he did not understand the diplomatic mission's position.

"Under the previous administration, the US Embassy was one of the main actors artificially attempting to sow hatred in Georgia and spread lies. Therefore, the embassy's statement is incomprehensible to me, although that is their business," the prime minister told reporters.

According to the head of government, following the change of administration in Washington, Tbilisi now has reason to expect a reset in relations with the United States. He emphasized that the Georgian authorities are interested in fully restoring the strategic partnership and expect reciprocal steps from the American administration.

Kobakhidze's current statements continue his previous rhetoric toward Washington. In May 2025, the prime minister published an open letter to US President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, expressing bewilderment at the lack of contact with the new American administration. He then asserted that the Georgian authorities and Trump's team shared the same view of the influence of the so-called "deep state" and opposed its actions. Kobakhidze also called on the new US administration to abandon the approaches of the previous administration and reset relations between the two countries.

"We sincerely hoped that your administration would defeat the Deep State—this is not only critically important for the United States, but will also directly impact the reset of Georgian-American relations," the letter stated.
