The Committee for the Protection of Journalists demanded the release of the Azerbaijani photographer.

The Azerbaijani authorities should release the photojournalist Veli Shukurzade and ensure that fabricated charges are not brought against the press. This is stated in the statement of the International Committee for the Protection of Journalists.
«Veli Shukurzade’s verdict on fabricated charges and serious violations in his case cause deep concern and require a full and transparent investigation», - noted the CPJ.
The photojournalist was accused of hooliganism and disobedience to the police. He was sentenced to 30 days of arrest. He was said to have taken an interest in a government official’s car, which was the reason for his arrest.
