Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations: Mudflows, Avalanches, and Heavy Rainfall – High Alert Declared Until April 7

Due to deteriorating weather conditions, which have led to mudflows and avalanches in several regions of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations urges the public to remain vigilant. The likelihood of hazardous events remains high until April 7. Citizens are strongly advised to immediately move to higher ground if a threat arises.

Intense downpours that began on April 4 caused serious problems in the capital and its suburbs. Baku city authorities announced that all services have been put on high alert. Extensive flooding has been reported in areas without a centralized sewer system. Pumps and heavy equipment are currently being deployed to remove water, and residents are being evacuated from the affected areas.

Strong winds are exacerbating the situation, causing trees to fall. Rescue teams continue to clean up the aftermath of the storm and monitor the situation. Similar measures – pumping out water and evacuation – are being taken in other affected settlements.
