An assassination attempt was made on Akhmat Kadyrov's former associate
An assassination attempt was made on Sherip Alikhadzhiev, the former deputy chairman of the Ingush government and the State Council of Chechnya, and current assistant to State Duma deputy General Vladimir Shamanov, in the elite village of Lapino near Moscow.
 
The incident occurred on the evening of October 10, when Sherip Alikhadzhiev was on the veranda of his home. An unknown person shot at him several times and fled. The victim was taken to intensive care. The Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Moscow Region opened a criminal case on the fact of attempted murder (Part 3 of Article 30 Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
 
Sherip Alikhadzhiev was an associate of the former president of Chechnya, Akhmat Kadyrov, and worked as the head of the administration of the Shali district of the republic.

The Anna Politkovskaya Award has this year been given to 11 Russian and five Ukrainian female journalists who are imprisoned in Russia and in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

 

According to the award’s founder, the international organisation RAW in WAR (Reach All Women in WAR), the nominations committee praised the “courage and integrity” of the laureates, who “risk their freedom and even their lives to report on the war and speak out against human rights violations, war crimes and the escalating repression of journalists, human rights defenders and anti-war activists in Russia”.
