The Orenburg Regional Court has begun hearing the state prosecution's appeal in the 6-million-ruble bribe case involving former senator Rauf Arashukov. The prosecution is seeking to increase the fine for the former official, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, from 120 million to 420 million rubles.
Security forces reported the death of a Kislovodsk resident during an arrest on suspicion of involvement in the plotting of the terrorist attack foiled in Stavropol in December 2025.
According to the FSB, the man, "on instructions from Ukrainian intelligence services," prepared a cache containing an explosive device, which was used by a previously detained woman to attempt a car bombing near the military base. Investigators say the man offered armed resistance during his arrest and was "neutralized by return fire."
There were no injuries among the security forces or civilians. A Makarov pistol, an F-1 grenade, and an improvised explosive device were found at the scene. The case is reportedly being investigated as part of a previously opened criminal investigation into attempted terrorist attack and illegal possession and manufacture of explosives.
