The worst provision of hot meals to schools was recorded in the North Caucasus

In Ingushetia and Dagestan, only 42% and 44% of schoolchildren, respectively, are provided with hot meals. These are the worst results in the Russian Federation, according to Rospotrebnadzor.

Low rates were also found in North Ossetia (59.2%) and Karachay-Cherkessia (59.8%). If we talk about students in grades 5-11, in Ingushetia and Dagestan they are provided with hot meals by less than 1%, in Karachay-Cherkessia and North Ossetia - by slightly less than 30%.

Last year, the Russian government announced that all primary school students - about 7.7 million children - would be provided with hot meals. As a result of a survey in 2023, every third parent noted that their child was fed well at school. The average rating for the quality of food in school canteens was 3.4 points out of 5.
