Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili stated that the ruling party's signing of a document in support of Ukraine was motivated not so much by fears of an international investigation as by a desire to irritate Russia.
One of the leaders of the Azerbaijani opposition was left under arrest
The court in Baku did not satisfy the defense's petition for house arrest and left the leader of the Azerbaijan Democracy and Prosperity Party, Gubad Ibadoglu, in custody. Lawyers presented medical documents testifying to the prisoner's illnesses: he suffers from diabetes and hypertension. However, he was left in jail.
Recall, Gubad Ibadoglu, a well-known economist, was detained on July 23 and charged with possession of counterfeit money. Human rights organizations condemned his persecution and demanded his release. Earlier, he criticized the Azerbaijani authorities, initiated the confiscation of property from officials.
