In the case of the murder of the head of the Ingushetia Ministry of Internal Affairs

The Southern Military Court in Rostov rejected the defence request to return to the Prosecutor’s Office the criminal case concerning the murder of Ibrahim Eljarkiev, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Centre for Combating Extremism.

«They were assigned to the role of criminals», Alaudi Musayev, one of the defendants' lawyers, said earlier. According to the investigation, 11 people were involved in Eljarkiev’s death. Of these, eight are in custody and three are in hiding, including the alleged murderer, Kureish Kartov. The investigation considered the crime a terrorist act: the leader of the criminal association, according to their version, is businessman Hasan Polonkov.

Ibrahim Eljarkiev was shot and killed on 2 November 2019 in Moscow. His brother Abdulahmed, who was a doctor in a hospital in the capital, died with him. Less than a year before the assassination of the head of the Ingushetia Ministry of Internal Affairs, an attempt was made on his life. This happened in January 2019, when he was returning from a business trip from Chechnya.
