Police in Russia's North Ossetia have launched an inquiry following a campaign of online harassment targeting women through the Telegram channel Kavkazskaya Obshchina ("Caucasian Community"). The channel's administrators published women's personal information, insulted them and issued threats of violence over behaviour they claimed violated Caucasian traditions.

According to the investigation, on April 7, a local resident attacked traffic police officers with a knife. The police officers were stabbed, and the number of victims is not specified. It is reported that two law enforcement officers were taken to the hospital, one of whom later died. The attacker was eliminated by return fire.
