The head of the Department of the Ministry of Economic Development for the North Caucasus was detained on suspicion of embezzlement of budget funds

In Pyatigorsk, the director of the department of socio-economic development of the North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) of the Ministry of Economic Development, Igor Khranovsky, was detained. A high-ranking official is suspected of embezzling budget funds.

The department headed by Khranovsky deals with issues of strategic, investment and territorial development of the North Caucasian Federal District, including attracting investments, trade and economic issues and tourism.

FSB officers detained an official at his workplace in Pyatigorsk. Now he has been transferred to Moscow. In 2015–2018, Khranovsky was Deputy Chairman of the Government of Ingushetia.
