Police detained a teenager on suspicion of plotting terrorist attacks in the Astrakhan region and Dagestan

A 13-year-old teenager has been detained in Astrakhan. Investigators suspect him of planning terrorist attacks in the Astrakhan region and Dagestan using improvised explosive devices.

According to investigators, the teenager also created a Telegram channel to teach subscribers how to make explosives. In the summer of 2025, he reportedly began communicating on Telegram with someone allegedly associated with the Islamic State (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) and later created his own group aimed at introducing Sharia law. The group was disbanded due to the need to join a terrorist organization for further training and activities.

The court ordered the teenager placed in a temporary detention center for juvenile offenders.
