The alleged murderer Sulim Yamadaev was reduced the charge

Investigative agencies have changed the accusation against Chechen native Zelimkhan Mazayev. He is accused of transferring money to supporters of the extremist ISIS group. He was previously accused of creating the NVF.

14 years ago, the UAE prosecutor’s office charged Mazayev in absentia with the murder of former commander of «Vostok» battalion Sulim Yamadaev, who was in conflict with Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov. In 2009, according to UAE authorities, Mazayev shot Yamadaev in the underground parking lot of Dubai.

According to the investigation, in 2014 Zelimkhan Mazayev paid for a trip to Syria for his friend, who tried to join the terrorist organization «Islamic State» banned in Russia. According to the lawyers, it does not appear from the materials of the criminal case that it was Mazayev who transferred money, but even the transfer itself cannot be considered evidence of the financing of terrorism.
