Activist persecuted by Russia not released from Armenia

Activist Irina Belacheu, who is on the international wanted list at the request of the Russian authorities, was not released from Armenia. She tried to fly to Ukraine, where she has been living in recent years.

In Armenia, there are no claims against the woman, but she is forbidden to cross the border due to a criminal case by the Russian Federation. In July, Belacheu tried to enter Georgia, but she was not allowed in and had to fly to Yerevan.

In 2016, Irina Belacheu left Russia for Ukraine. In 2021, the Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested her in absentia, and earlier the woman was put on the international wanted list. A criminal case has been opened against her for the attack on the Russian embassy in Kyiv in 2016. According to investigators, the protesters then threw stones at him and smashed the windows.
