President of Georgia Supports Ukraine

Russia still occupies 20 per cent of Georgia’s territory. That is why Georgians understand the suffering of Ukrainians and express unwavering solidarity with them. This was stated by Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, who participated remotely in the «Butcha - Russia’s Responsibility for the Crimes Committed in Ukraine».

According to Zurabishvili, peace will come when Russia becomes a state that, like others, recognizes the borders of its neighbors. On the eve of the Georgian president criticized the government of the country and the ruling party «Georgian Dream» for lack of full solidarity with Ukraine. The opposition party «United National Movement» holds protest rally under the slogan «Together - to Europe». The main demand of the participants to the authorities is to implement the 12 recommendations of the European Commission necessary for Georgia to become an EU candidate. Former Public Defender Nino Lomjaria believes that granting Georgia the status of a candidate for EU membership would be a failure of Putin’s propaganda in its territory.
