Zarema Musaeva, sentenced in Chechnya, complained of deteriorating health

Zarema Musayeva, who is being held in the Grozny pre-trial detention center, suffers from type 2 diabetes, she has prolonged nosebleeds and pain in her arm. This was announced by Alexander Savin, the lawyer of the Team Against Torture, who visited her.

At the end of May, an ambulance came to Musaeva in the pre-trial detention center. The woman's sugar rose strongly, the pressure indicators were very high. The lawyer asked for a medical record containing information about Zarema's health for the entire period of her detention.

Recall that Musaeva was recently found guilty of using violence against a police officer and sentenced to five and a half years in prison. According to lawyers, given the state of her health, the woman cannot serve her sentence.

Zarema Musayeva is the mother of Chechen human rights activists. Last year, she was kidnapped by the security forces, after which a fictitious criminal case was opened against her. Novaya Gazeta journalist Yelena Milashina and lawyer Alexander Nemov went to the verdict. On the way from the airport, they were severely beaten by masked gunmen.
