On October 18, the cities of Kyiv, Dnepr, Krivoy Rog, and Nikolaev were subjected to missile attacks and strikes by Iranian kamikaze drones. Zhytomyr was left without electricity and water after a series of missile attacks.
A Su-34 bomber crashed in a residential area in the city of Yeisk, Krasnodar Territory. A large fire broke out at the crash site, engulfing nine floors of an apartment building. 15 people were killed, including three children, and another 19 were injured. The Defense Ministry said the crash was caused by a malfunction of one of the engines during a training flight. Later, security forces reported that the cause of the crash of the military plane was that two seagulls hit the engines during takeoff.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a resolution in which it declared the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria a territory “temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation” and also condemned “the commission of genocide of the Chechen people.” 287 deputies voted for the adoption of the document.
