During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
Rosstat has published a forecast of the population of Russia by 2045. According to the document, in the next two decades the number of people in the Russian Federation will decrease at a rate of more than 500 thousand people per year.
For the republics of the North Caucasus, Rosstat predicts the following dynamics by 2045: Chechnya - population growth by 601.4 thousand people, Dagestan - by 509.6 thousand, Ingushetia - by 131.9 thousand, Kabardino-Balkaria - by 42.8 thousand, Karachay-Cherkessia - decline per 1 thousand people, North Ossetia – decrease by 7.3 thousand.
The largest natural population decline by region is predicted in Moscow, the Moscow region and St. Petersburg. At the same time, more than 200 thousand migrants will arrive in Russia every year. In total, by 2046 their influx will reach 4.8 million people, which will compensate for only 40% of the natural population decline.
