At least 14 Crimean Tatar political prisoners sent to Russian prisons since the beginning of the year
Since the beginning of 2023, at least 14 Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian political prisoners have been illegally transferred to Russian prisons. This was reported by the human rights organization "KrymSOS".
“The deportation of civilians, including political prisoners, from the Crimean peninsula to Russia is a war crime. By these actions, Russia violates Articles 49 and 76 of the 4th Geneva Convention,” said Yevgeny Yaroshenko, an analyst at KrymSOS. At the same time, Crimean Tatars are most often transferred to prisons in remote regions - Lipetsk, Chelyabinsk, Vladimir regions, Krasnoyarsk Territory.
