Chechnya has the lowest alcohol consumption in Russia

In September of this year, the North Caucasus Federal District demonstrated the lowest per capita alcohol consumption among Russian regions.

The lowest alcohol consumption was recorded in Chechnya (0.13 liters per capita), followed by Ingushetia (0.62 liters), Dagestan (0.89 liters), Kabardino-Balkaria (2.25 liters), and Karachay-Cherkessia (2.63 liters). According to data from the Unified Interdepartmental Information and Statistical System, the highest alcohol consumption was recorded in the Sverdlovsk (10.5 liters) and Novosibirsk (8.8 liters) regions, and Tatarstan (8.5 liters).

Across the country, experts report a decline to a historic low of 7.8 liters per capita, the lowest since 1999.
