Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has warned that Russia’s restrictions on Armenian exports are calling into question the future of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), saying the dispute could mark “the beginning of the end” for the Moscow-led bloc if it is not resolved soon.
North Caucasus Federal District Subjects Rank Last in Socioeconomic Ranking of Russian Regions
The final ranking of Russian regions' socioeconomic development for 2025, compiled by RIA Novosti, revealed a significant lag in the North Caucasus republics. Ingushetia ranked last, 85th. Karachay-Cherkessia (81st), North Ossetia (78th), Chechnya (77th), Kabardino-Balkaria (75th), and Dagestan (74th) also ranked low.
Stavropol Krai ranked highest among the North Caucasus Federal District subjects, ranking a relatively high 38th. Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Moscow Region topped the rankings.
The regional assessments were based on official statistics. They reflected various aspects of socioeconomic development, including quality of life, the labor market, material well-being, scientific and technological development, and public health.
