Search and rescue efforts to locate one of the two sisters who disappeared in Vanadzor have been ongoing for seven days. The Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia shared this information.
A call about two missing girls, aged 7 and 13, was received by the 112 emergency services on June 15. Two days later, on June 17, the body of the younger sister, Nare Martirosyan, was found in the Pambak River. Currently, 167 Rescue Service specialists, 90 police officers, volunteers, and divers are participating in the search for the second sister. Drones, watercraft, and other specialized equipment are also being used.
Authorities also dismantled a pipe used by local residents to cross the Pambak River. According to preliminary information, the sisters may have attempted to cross to the opposite bank through this pipe on the day they disappeared. Many residents are convinced that the tragedy could have been prevented if the pipe had been removed earlier and people had stopped using it for crossing.
