The statements of the head of EU diplomacy were criticized in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan strongly rejects the unfounded accusations against it regarding territorial claims against Armenia put forward by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Relations, Josep Joseph Borel. This was stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

“President Aliyev’s recent territorial demands are of great concern. Any violation of the territorial integrity of Armenia will be unacceptable and will have serious consequences for our relations with Azerbaijan,” Josep Borrell said yesterday.

Baku responded by saying that the head of EU diplomacy distorts the views of the President of Azerbaijan on historical facts about the territories of Azerbaijan and Armenia, and also provokes a militaristic and aggressive policy towards Baku.

“In addition to adhering to international obligations and international law, Azerbaijan will resolutely oppose any claims against its national interests and attempts to legitimize threatening statements,” Baku said.
