Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said Yerevan does not rule out taking its dispute with Russia over the management of the South Caucasus Railway to an international court if the issue cannot be resolved through negotiations. At the same time, he stressed that the Armenian authorities hope to settle the matter through talks.
Presidential elections have started in Azerbaijan
On February 7, early presidential elections are being held in Azerbaijan. The election campaign of candidates began on January 15. The Central Election Commission has registered seven candidates for the presidency.
The main candidate is the current President Ilham Aliyev, who has been in office since 2003. His formal competitors are members of the Azerbaijani parliament Zahid Oruj, Fazil Mustafa, Razi Nurullayev, Elshad Musayev, Fuad Aliyev, Gudrat Hasanguliyev. It is noteworthy that not a single representative of opposition parties and movements registered as a candidate.
