Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili stated that the ruling party's signing of a document in support of Ukraine was motivated not so much by fears of an international investigation as by a desire to irritate Russia.
In Chechnya, a conscript was sentenced to five years for leaving his unit during treatment
The Grozny garrison court sentenced Samat Suleymanov, a serviceman from Astrakhan, to five years in prison. He was found guilty of leaving his unit without permission. However, the reason was treatment in the hospital after being beaten by fellow soldiers.
The man served in a motorized rifle regiment located in the village of Borzoi in Chechnya. He was then mobilized to Ukraine, where his fellow soldiers broke his jaw. After this, Samat Suleymanov was forced to go home to the Astrakhan region and go to the hospital. After discharge, he continued outpatient treatment at home for about a month. For this he was accused of abandoning his unit and sentenced to a long term.
