In Chechnya, the nephew of Akhmed Zakayev was sent to war with Ukraine

The authorities of Chechnya, as part of another "Kadyrov's" detachment, sent Hussein Zakayev to fight with Ukraine. Caucasus reports. Realities. The young man is the nephew of the head of the government of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (ChRI) in exile, Akhmed Zakayev.

39-year-old Hussein is disabled, he has repeatedly operated on a vertebral hernia, he is not even able to sit normally. In May, he and his brother Bislan were detained by Chechen security forces because of the opposition activities of their uncle, Akhmed Zakaev. The latter himself often visits Ukraine and coordinates the activities of the CRI armed forces as part of the international legion of Ukraine.

The Anna Politkovskaya Award has this year been given to 11 Russian and five Ukrainian female journalists who are imprisoned in Russia and in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

 

According to the award’s founder, the international organisation RAW in WAR (Reach All Women in WAR), the nominations committee praised the “courage and integrity” of the laureates, who “risk their freedom and even their lives to report on the war and speak out against human rights violations, war crimes and the escalating repression of journalists, human rights defenders and anti-war activists in Russia”.
