The percentage of citizens proud of Stalin has decreased in Georgia

The proportion of the population of Georgia who believes that one should be proud of Joseph Stalin (Dzhugaashvili) has decreased to 37%. This is evidenced by a survey by CRRC Georgia commissioned by Zinc Network.

In November 2021, the opinion that in Georgia “a patriot should be proud of the Georgian origin of Stalin” was shared by 45%.
In 2010, by order of President Mikheil Saakashvili, a monument to Stalin was demolished in the city of Gori. He is guilty of both mass repressions of Soviet citizens and illegal deportations of many peoples who inhabited the USSR (Chechens, Ingush, Kalmyks, Crimean Tatars, Circassians, etc.).
