A pensioner has been detained in Ingushetia on suspicion of supporting an illegal armed group

A 72-year-old local resident named Kottoyev has been detained in the village of Psedakh in the Malgobek District of Ingushetia. He is suspected of participating in an illegal armed group.

Investigators claim that in 2023, the man voluntarily joined Amirkhan Gurazhev's group, which was involved in attacks on security forces. Kottoyev reportedly provided the group members with shelter on a farm, food, and medicine, and provided transportation services in his personal vehicle. Investigators also claim that the suspect set up four caches for weapons and ammunition. Kottoyev was previously reported to have been detained on similar charges in 2023, but this information has not been officially confirmed.

In the spring of 2023, a series of armed attacks on police officers occurred in Ingushetia. On March 28, a group led by Amirkhan Gurazhev opened fire on a police post on the border with North Ossetia, wounding two law enforcement officers.

This incident was followed by attacks in the villages of Gvardeyskoye and Zyazikov-Yurt, killing three police officers and wounding nine.
