Passenger plane crashes in Kazakhstan flying from Azerbaijan to Chechnya
A few kilometers from Aktau in southwestern Kazakhstan, a plane crashed flying from Baku to Grozny. The preliminary cause of the crash is a collision with birds and a steering failure. Due to fog, the Azerbaijan Airlines flight was diverted to Makhachkala, and then to Aktau.
 
According to official data from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, there were 67 people on board the plane, including 5 crew members. Information on the victims is being clarified. It is preliminary reported that 28 people survived, of whom 22 were taken to hospital. A total of 150 personnel, 45 units of equipment from the Department of Emergency Situations, the National State Fire Service, and the State Fire Service are involved.
 
According to the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, there were 37 citizens of Azerbaijan, 6 Kazakhstanis, 3 Kyrgyzstanis, and 16 Russians on board the plane. The passenger lists are being clarified.
