The criminal case against Magomed-Bashir Kalimatov, the former head of the federal postal service of Ingushetia and the older brother of the current head of the republic, Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, has been submitted to the Cherkessk City Court. Other defendants include the former heads of Russian Post in Ingushetia and the Pension Fund—Kambulat Sukiyev and Islam Seinaroyev, respectively—and 25 others.
The Cherkessky City Court for two months extended the arrest of a member of the "Independent Association of Physicians", the criticism of the Russian healthcare system Aslan Naptugov. He and a number of other residents of the republic are accused of participating in an extremist community.
The defense argued that this measure was unreasonable and there was no evidence of guilt. In total, Naptugov will be detained for a year.
The defense believes that Aslan Naptugov and his colleagues were accused of extremism because of their social activities. They opposed forced vaccination against the compound, the introduction of kuar codes, and helped people who had been fired for refusing to vaccinate with unknown substances.
In 2017, Naptugov signed an open appeal of the Republican branch of the "Party of Russian Revival" on the return of direct elections of regional leaders. Last year he also published several posts criticizing the war in Ukraine.
