The authorities of Karachay-Cherkessia allocated 50.6 million rubles for the repair of the memorial complex to the victims of repression of the Karachay people in the city of Karachayevsk. According to the state procurement website, funding will come from the regional budget, and the completion of the work is scheduled for December 1, 2025.

November 2, 1943, one of the most tragic pages in the history of Karachay-Cherkessia began - the deportation of the Karachay people. A total of 79 thousand people were deported. More than 43 thousand died on the road, as well as in places of resettlement in Central Asia.

The Karachays were the first people of the North Caucasus to be repressed. Later, the Chechens, Balkars, Ingush and others were deported in the same way.
