Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that the European Commission has been provided with complete and reliable information on the activities of the Kulevi port, confirming compliance with the sanctions regime. The statement came amid discussions of the 20th EU sanctions package against Russia, which, according to media reports, may include the Georgian port.
Georgian authorities spoke about claims against the EU
Georgia was not granted EU candidate status because it refused to join sanctions against Russia. This was announced by Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.
According to him, the country has earned the status of candidate more than Ukraine and Moldova, and the refusal to grant it was a political decision. «The Georgian government is a problem because it does not join sanctions, does not start a war, does not open a "second front" in the country», - said the official.
Tbilisi Mayor added that the authorities are working hard to implement the 12 recommendations that have been submitted to Georgia for EU candidate status. The country did not join the sanctions against Russia, but condemned the invasion of Ukraine on international platforms.
