The fewest people are in Karachay-Cherkessia - 468 thousand people. The figures are slightly higher in Ingushetia (527 thousand), North Ossetia (679 thousand) and Kabardino-Balkaria (905 thousand).
The urban population in the North Caucasus Federal District is 5.2 million people, the rural population is 4.9 million.
