Lawyer who defended Crimean Tatar political prisoners detained
Lawyer Alexey Ladin was detained in Simferopol. He participated in trials of Crimean Tatars, who were accused of involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir, and defended Ukrainian political prisoners and prisoners of war in courts.
According to preliminary data from lawyer Liliya Gemedzhi, Ladin is accused of “discrediting” the Russian army due to a post on Facebook. Security forces conducted a search at his house in Sevastopol. The lawyer's relatives were told that he would be given 15 days of administrative arrest. The case should be considered in the Kievsky District Court of Simferopol.
