The defense will seek to cancel the tightening of the detention of a prisoner from Ingushetia who is not receiving medical care

Lawyer Irina Biryukova called the decision of the Astrakhan Regional Court to uphold the transfer to prison regime of a prisoner, a native of Ingushetia, Abdul-Malik Albagachiev, illegal. The court did not take into account his state of health and did not accept an independent medical examination as evidence.

“With such a decision, Albagachiev’s life and health may be jeopardized, since he will be deprived of medical care during the trial. Considering that his epilepsy attacks have become more frequent, the absence of doctors, which can be prolonged, can lead to death,” the lawyer noted.

Let us remind you that the prosecutor's office of the Astrakhan region did not find any violations of the law in the actions of the employees of IK-6, and, according to the department, the necessary medical care is provided to the prisoner.

Abdul-Malik Albagachiev, who is serving time in the Astrakhan colony, had previously sewn his mouth shut. The man remained in this condition for two days, after which he was taken to an unknown direction. The reason for the protest was the failure to provide medical care during an epileptic seizure. Relatives stated that the frequent attacks of epilepsy were a consequence of the torture to which he was subjected by security forces.
Abdul-Malik Albagachiev also suffers from headaches. Before his arrest, he was an absolutely healthy person.

The man was convicted in 2018. He was charged with participating in an illegal armed group in Syria. Confessions of guilt were extracted by torture. He did not admit guilt.
