The resident of Chechnya defended the right to rehabilitation as a victim of political repression.

Despite an early refusal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Chechnya, the court ordered to issue a certificate of rehabilitation to the local resident Shirvani Hamzatov. He was recognized as a victim of political repression - the man was born into a family deported to Kyrgyzstan in 1944.
In his lawsuit, Hamzatov indicated that only in 1958 the family received permission to return from a special settlement in Central Asia to their home - the Chechen-Ingush ASSR. According to the law, he has the right to be recognized as a victim of political repression. However, the Ministry of Internal Affairs did not issue the relevant document.
The court found that the decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on the lifting of restrictions from the deported peoples was issued in the summer of 1956. At the same time Shirvani Hamzatov was born a little later, but before the adoption of the decree «On the education of the Chechen-Ingush ASSR in the RSFSR» in January 1957. As a result, the court decided to recognize the plaintiff’s right to rehabilitation.
