In its report, "Georgia – Anatomy of Repression: 500 Days of Protests, Dispersals, and Resilience," Amnesty International called for the Georgian government to end its smear campaigns against independent media, journalists, and opposition politicians. The organization also recommended that the EU and international partners take steps in this direction.
KBR resident convicted of crossing out Z symbol on backpack
Tamerlan Ivanov from Nalchik became a defendant in administrative cases of disobedience to the demands of a police officer and discrediting the army. A young man was detained on the street because of a pacifist inscription on his backpack and a crossed out letter Z. His phone was taken away. According to the first protocol, he was fined four thousand rubles, the second is under consideration by the court.
From March 2022, the maximum penalty under the article on discrediting the army is a fine of 50 thousand rubles. For repeated violation, the accused faces criminal liability.
