Police in Russia's North Ossetia have launched an inquiry following a campaign of online harassment targeting women through the Telegram channel Kavkazskaya Obshchina ("Caucasian Community"). The channel's administrators published women's personal information, insulted them and issued threats of violence over behaviour they claimed violated Caucasian traditions.
A resident of Dagestan was convicted of calls for attacks on the lives of security forces
The Khasavyurt City Court of Dagestan sentenced local resident P. Makhmudova to one year probation. She was found guilty of public calls for extremist activities.
According to investigators, in February 2023, a woman posted materials on one of her Telegram channels in which an examination revealed calls for attacks on the lives of law enforcement officers.
Taking into account the guilty plea, the court sentenced Makhmudova to one year of probation with a probationary period of six months. This was reported by the press service of the FSB Directorate for Dagestan.
