Lawyer Contacted Law Enforcement and Security Agencies to Locate Detained Police Officer from Chechnya

Requests have been sent to the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Security Service directorates of the Omsk region and to the Director of Rosgvardia to take measures to locate the 19-year-old police officer from Chechnya, Yasin Khalidov. Recall that he was detained on May 20 while trying to leave Russia.

His whereabouts, procedural status and the grounds on which he was detained are unknown to me, his family and their relatives. In view of these facts all possible constitutional rights of Khalidov are violated», - stated in the statements of lawyer Alexander Nemo. Earlier the site «Caucasus.Realia» also sent requests to several authorities about the location of the Chechen policeman. They remained unanswered.

The story of Khalidov was published by journalist Elena Milashina on May 21. According to her, in September 2022, Khalidov was sent to Ukraine for «CBO» as an employee of the Chechen police, where he spent four months. The policeman tried to leave the service, but he was refused. On his return from Ukraine, Khalidov was detained. He was threatened that if he did not stop his attempts to resign he would be prosecuted for terrorism.

In late January, Khalidov managed to escape from Chechnya. According to «Novaya Gazeta», he appealed for help to Chechen bloggers Ibrahim and Baisangur Yangulbayev, who promised to take him out of Russia in exchange for information about his service in the Chechen police and participation in «CBO». Having received the data, bloggers published them on their television channel as «investigation of the century». Yasin Khalidov was detained in Omsk.
