Armenia and Azerbaijan report wounded and dead as a result of skirmish on the border

On August 31-September 1, a new clash broke out on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border with the use of small arms and mortars. This is reported by the military departments of the countries.

According to the Armenian Defense Ministry, two servicemen of the country's armed forces were killed, and another was injured as a result of shelling from Azerbaijan in the Sotk direction (Gegharkunik region in eastern Armenia). According to the Armenian side, Azerbaijani units used mortars in this direction.

The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, in turn, announced the wounding of three servicemen. According to the ministry, two of them were injured as a result of an attack by an Armenian attack drone on Azerbaijani positions located in the Kelbajar region. Baku said that they had taken "retaliatory actions."

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry also made a statement about the fighting on the border, commenting on the statements of the Armenian side: “Armenia is taking such actions in order to divert attention from the tense political and social situation in the country, as well as to mislead the international community. These actions must be categorically rejected and condemned by the international community. The responsibility for the provocations committed by Armenia lies entirely with this country. Azerbaijan will continue to take all necessary measures to prevent such provocations.”

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan stated that Armenia was aggravating the situation in the region by firing small arms, mortars, artillery mounts and strike UAVs at the positions of the Azerbaijani army.
