Armenia prefers to buy weapons from India and France, not from Russia
In 2022-2023, Armenia signed a number of contracts for the supply of weapons with India for a total of over $1.5 billion. France is in second place in terms of purchases in this area ($250 million).
Armenia signed its last arms deal with Russia in 2021, and its conditions have not yet been fulfilled. Since then, Yerevan has refused to buy these products from Moscow. Russia's share in the structure of arms and military equipment supplies to Armenia has fallen from the previous 96% to less than 10%. Yerevan also froze its participation in the pro-Russian CSTO. It is noteworthy that in Armenia, the image of Russia is perceived as a threat, according to a survey by the International Republican Institute (IRI).
