Armenia is among the leaders in the number of Russian tourists wishing to vacation during the New Year holidays
Armenia took fourth place among the popular destinations for the New Year holidays among Russians. 7% of Russian citizens who have planned a vacation abroad are planning to visit the country. The first three positions were taken by Thailand, Uzbekistan and Turkey - 11%, 10% and 8%, respectively. These are the data from a study by the Aviasales air ticket purchasing service.
 
In addition, Russians are leading among tourists who visited Armenia in the first 10 months of this year. 828.6 thousand Russian citizens visited the country. Tourists from Georgia traditionally take second place (11%), followed by Iranian citizens (7%).
 
At the same time, the number of tourists who visited Armenia in the first 10 months of 2024 decreased by 6% compared to the same period in 2023. In total, 1.9 million people vacationed in Armenia from January to September, and by the end of December this figure should grow to 2.1 million.
 
As for Georgia, it ranks eighth among popular destinations for New Year holidays among Russians with a rate of 5%. The largest number of visits to Georgia in January-September 2024 were made by Russian citizens - more than 1.1 million, which is 3.3% less than last year.
