Azerbaijan has allocated funds for a new humanitarian aid package for Ukraine

Azerbaijan has allocated $2 million for humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The corresponding order was signed by the country's President Ilham Aliyev. The funds will be used to send electrical equipment to Ukraine.

Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Yalcin Rafiyev stated that Baku has supported a diplomatic settlement of the conflict, as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, since the first days of the "SVO". He emphasized that Azerbaijan is one of the first countries to send humanitarian aid to Ukraine, the total cost of which is estimated at $42 million. According to him, the total number of Ukrainian children affected by the war who took part in the medical and socio-psychological rehabilitation program in Azerbaijan reached 330.

The day before, Ilham Aliyev and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky condemned Russia's targeted airstrikes on Azerbaijani oil and gas facilities in Ukraine and agreed that this would not affect Baku and Kyiv's cooperation in the energy sector.

Today, Russian State Duma deputy Andrey Gurulev threatened Azerbaijan with economic sanctions and even military intervention. In his speech, he spoke about the possibility of a ban on the import of Azerbaijani goods to Russia and "infringement" of the interests of Azerbaijani entrepreneurs. Gurulev also hinted that the "special military operation" could spread to the territory of Azerbaijan, thereby effectively threatening the use of military force.

Billionaire and former Nagorno-Karabakh state minister Ruben Vardanyan, sentenced in Baku to 20 years in prison, rejected the legal force of the ruling and dropped his appeal. His family explained that this decision stemmed from the fact that, in their view, the trial was a "staged performance" rather than a proper trial: the hearings were held behind closed doors, without access to independent observers, and the prosecution's motions were ignored. The full text of the verdict was also not released.
