Bloomberg: Ivanishvili has become richer by $300 million since the beginning of the year
In just one and a half months of 2025, the founder of the ruling party of Georgia, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, has become richer by $300 million. According to the American news agency Bloomberg, the oligarch's fortune is estimated at $7.8 billion. The source notes that it has reached a record level.

At the end of last year, Bloomberg cited the figure of $7.55 billion. If we consider the dynamics over the year, the assets of the leader of the Georgian Dream have increased by $1.5 billion.

Today, Bidzina Ivanishvili ranks 399th among the 500 billionaires included in the Bloomberg rating. The agency's analysts rated Ivanishvili's wealth at 1 out of 5 stars, implying that it is difficult to obtain reliable information about his income and wealth.

It is noteworthy that Forbes estimates Ivanishvili's assets at $4.9 billion, the same as several years ago.

On February 13, the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling on the European Union and its member states to join the boycott of the government formed by the Georgian Dream and to impose personal sanctions against its founder Bidzina Ivanishvili, as well as his elite circle, high-ranking officials, judges and "regime-linked media owners."

Ruben Vardanyan Drops Appeal Against 20-Year Sentence in Azerbaijan
25 February 2026

Billionaire and former Nagorno-Karabakh state minister Ruben Vardanyan, sentenced in Baku to 20 years in prison, rejected the legal force of the ruling and dropped his appeal. His family explained that this decision stemmed from the fact that, in their view, the trial was a "staged performance" rather than a proper trial: the hearings were held behind closed doors, without access to independent observers, and the prosecution's motions were ignored. The full text of the verdict was also not released.

Chechnya Leads in Lowest Alcohol Sales

In 2025, residents of the North Caucasus regions consumed the least amount of hard liquor in Russia. The lowest official retail sales figures were recorded in Chechnya (0.01 liters per capita). Other republics of the North Caucasus Federal District also demonstrated modest figures: Ingushetia - 0.7 liters, Dagestan - 2.2 liters, Kabardino-Balkaria - 2.6 liters, North Ossetia - 3 liters, and Karachay-Cherkessia - 3.4 liters. Experts attribute this decline to the prevalence of cultural and religious restrictions, as well as a preference for low-alcohol beverages.
